Video Region Recorder — Privacy Policy
Video Region Recorder processes recording data locally in your browser and saves completed recordings to your device. The extension does not transmit recording content, tab audio, page URLs, page metadata, or recording-usage analytics to the developer or third parties.
1. What the extension accesses
When you explicitly start a recording, Video Region Recorder may access:
- Rendered pixels from the active browser tab.
- Audio from the active browser tab.
- The visible video or embedded-player region needed to create the requested recording.
- Basic page or video metadata needed to operate the recorder and create local metadata.
- Your extension settings, such as recording mode and prolonged-pause timeout.
- A local per-install video-download counter used to enforce the extension's local quota.
2. How this information is used
The extension uses this information only to:
- Create the recording you requested.
- Crop the captured tab to the detected video or embedded-player region.
- Include tab audio when the selected recording mode requires it.
- Pause, resume, or finalize recording based on observable playback state and your settings.
- Save completed recordings and associated metadata locally through Chrome's Downloads API.
- Maintain extension preferences and the local usage counter.
3. Local processing and storage
Recording media is processed locally within Chrome. Completed recordings and associated metadata are saved to your device through Chrome's Downloads API.
Extension preferences and the local usage counter are stored using Chrome extension storage. They are not used for advertising, profiling, or cross-site tracking.
4. Data transmission
Video Region Recorder does not transmit the following to the developer or third parties:
- Recorded video content.
- Recorded tab audio.
- Page URLs.
- Page or video metadata.
- Recording-usage analytics.
5. Analytics, advertising, and sale of data
This release does not include remote recording-usage analytics. The extension does not sell personal data, does not use recording data for advertising, and does not use recording data for behavioral profiling.
6. Remote code
The extension does not load or execute remote JavaScript or WebAssembly. Executable extension code is packaged with the extension distributed through the Chrome Web Store.
7. Permissions
Video Region Recorder uses Chrome permissions only as necessary to provide its recording functionality. These include access to the active tab after user interaction, script injection for video-region detection, tab capture, offscreen media processing, downloads, notifications, and extension storage.
8. User control
Recording begins only after you explicitly initiate it through the extension. You can stop a recording at any time. You can also change extension settings or remove the extension through Chrome.
9. Changes to this policy
If the extension's data practices materially change, this Privacy Policy will be updated to reflect those changes before or when the corresponding extension update is released.
